A mechanical failure in the rear wheels caused the tires on this semi trailer hauling scrap metal to burn.  The fire spread into the cargo box totally destroying the trailer.  Interstate 380 traffic was slowing during the morning commute while firefighters extinguished the fire.  No on was injured in the fire.

This residential fire resulted in minor smoke damage after a small fan overheated and ignited clothing and bedding that surrounded it.

Firefighters used rescue tools to access a victim of this nearly head-on collision on January 6th, 2012.

Firefighters spend 2 hours in sub-zero temperatures on December 9th, 2011 when a regulator on a high-pressure natural gas line failed and sent gas into a residential neighborhood at Brookside and Evans Rd.  Nearby residents were evaucuated as a precaution and roads closed until crews from MidAmerican Energy were able to shut down the leaking equipment.
This early morning fire at 410 Grand Blvd destroyed the detached garage and damaged four vehicles parked near it during the 1:33 AM fire on December 1st, 2011.  Patroling Police Officers discovered the fire as it burned through the roof and called for fire rescue.  Residents were asleep inside the home and were awakened by the Police.  No injuries were reported and the family pet, that kenneled in the garage was able to escape unharmed.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
November 22nd, 2011 at 4:10 PM firefighters responded to a residential fire at 236 N. Roosevelt where they found heavy fire in the main level bathroom and smoke billowing from the home.  The fire was quickly controlled however evidence at the scene suggest the fire cause may have been from a resident manufacturing an illegal drug.  One person received minor injuries but refused medical care and was taken into custody by Evansdale Police for Manufacturing Methamphetamine.  The home sustained moderate fire and smoke damage.

August 5th, 2011 A medical condition caused the driver of a van to cross the median and oncoming traffic before entering the south ditch on Interstate 380 near River Forest Rd. The driver was transported to a local hospital and is expected to fully recover. None of the three children in the van were injured.
